What is: Value investing or value strategy has its name because its goal is for you to get value for your money when you invest.

When you use value investing strategy, you have to find companies / stocks that are underrated, undervalued. When you have spotted such companies, you buy stocks in the company and wait. You have to wait, because sometimes it takes a while before the rest of the stock market realizes what the value investor already has.

The assumption in value investing is that the rest of the stock market isn't reacting rationally. As a matter of fact, the market is assumed to overreact on both good and bad news. And because of that overreaction, stock prices now and then comes out of sync with the fundamental value of the company.

When using the value strategy, the value investor looks at the earnings and base capital of a company. A well known practiser of value investing is the worlds second richest person; Warren Buffet.
